am i going mad

Postby monkey_biz » Sat Mar 27, 2010 9:36 am

ok some of you may have seen on another forum i lost my baby regal tang to what i thought was whitespot.
now i bought a marisys 240 filter, great for QT's as you just lift out the basket and swap media as and when needed, set up a 3ft QT..................

NOT ONE OTHER FISH (NOT THAT I HAVE MANY) HAS SHOWN ANY SIGNS OF WS

ive not transferred them yet and i know how long the cycle is and its only been 10 days since i lost him
i had him for 8 weeks so thats a few cycles long with no signes then overnight he pops his clogs unexpectedly covered in specks

what else could it be???

everything else in the tank is still healthy and i hadnt added anything prior to him dying.

stumped and im not QTing everyone till i find out

The thing with tangs is there have a higher chance of been stressed with any type of change i take it you got him from a shop it may of started getting stressed there it can be many things.

Its not to say that one fish has it all your fish will get it. But if you have a UV i would turn it on for a few days and do a water change to be on the safe side.
Thanks

my uv runs 24/7 and i did a 50% water change after he died........

i suppose it was 2 weeks after the tank change over but i would have thought it waould have happened before that. there were no signs of it comming on. lights off perfect next lights on dead

i have had this happen to me and some times you just can't get to the bottom of why and as long as your other fish are fine and your tank looks fine no need to worry,
Thanks

12 week minimum QT in a bare bottomed tank for any tang after seeing any whitespot.

Most domestic UV's are worth the square root of fook all.
